choose your class

  • parent & child

Generally for tiny tots ages 6 months to 3 years. We do welcome older children who can benefit from this class as an intro to lessons. Parent/Child teams work with instructor in an intro to basic swim and water safety skills. This class is very low pressure and we have a lot of fun while learning safety skills as well as water adjustment, balance, and movement in the water.

  • Level 1

Ages 3-5 year-old introductory level “splashers”. Students are ready for this class when they can function in a class setting with parents watching from the deck. Kiddos in this age group who are very afraid or uncomfortable without direct support of parents are welcome to join us in the parent/child class as an intro to swim lessons, regardless of age.

  • Level 2

Ages 5-8 year-old beginner swimmers. Students in this class should be able to submerge without help, float with little or no support, and doggy paddle a short distance. We will work on submerging up to 10 seconds, swim/float/swim, and other beginning swim survival skills.

  • Level 3

Ages 6-12 year old beginner to intermediate swimmers. Level 3 swimmers might have completed Level 2, OR they might be older kids who are new to swimming. Either way, they are confident in trying new things, and ready to learn. Level 3 swimmers will develop proper head and body position on front and back, as well as practice intermediate level water survival skills.

  • Level 4

Ages 8-14 advanced swimmers. Students are ready for this class when they show no fear/hesitation with water, can float on front and back with no support, jump into deep water, resurface, and swim at least 10 yards. Level 4 swimmers will develop many swim strokes and work on advanced water survival skills.

  • Swim Team Prep

If your child is interested in taking swim skills to the next level, this class is a great intro to the world of competitive swim. Here, we will learn about swim starts, racing turns, relay logistics, and stroke development in freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly. Ages 6-17, Level 4 ability requirement.

sWIM lESSONS FAQs

  • Goggles, swimsuit, towel, and a smile :-)

  • With such a wide range in age, swimming ability, past experience, and other social or physical ability factors, there is no magic number for this. Every swimmer will progress at their own unique pace. Increasing swim proficiency through consistent participation in swim lessons on a long-term basis is recommended.

  • Sometimes we have to cancel classes due to unsafe weather conditions or unforeseen pool issues. We have makeup days built into our schedule just for this. Talk with your instructor about which day of the week is reserved for cancellation makeups at your location. Also check for an ALERT banner on the homepage of our website before coming to class each day.

  • We do not offer makeup lessons for classes missed due to personal reasons. No worries, we will just catch you up next time!

  • Always check the website and Tulsa Lifeguard Pro Facebook page before heading to the pool. We will be watching the forecast and skies at each pool site and try to update the website alert banner and Facebook page approximately 30 minutes before the start of the first lesson for the day.
